I am fortunate enough to once again sponsor this year’s Lines in the Lagoon festivities.  This will be the 2nd  annual event started by a group of high school boys that could best be described as “river enthusiasts”!  Specifically, their goal is to raise money for the lagoon (last year $22,000) and funds will be donated to ORCA, CCA and ELC and most importantly, to raise awareness about what is happening in the lagoon and kids are the perfect target audience!  The first activity is an Indian River Lagoon cleanup slated for Sept. 19th.  Any location along the river will do - just seek out trash and pick it up.  You will be amazed at what’s out there!   The 2nd activity is a catch and release fishing tournament for kids and fish of all ages Oct. 17th – you must register at www.linesinthelagoon.com.   After fishing, a casual family awards dinner will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Backus Museum in Ft Pierce with raffles, food, dunk tank and don’t forget, music by my band the KILLER WAILS!!!  (alternative rock band - no country, rap, and absolutely, positively no brown- eyed girl!)   By the way, I heard the drummer was fantastic, steady tempo, never misses a beat!   Even if you don’t have participants in the tournament, come on out at 4:00 and jam with the Killer Wails and donate to this great cause!
